Assessment
Following referral (parent, Doctor, teacher, physiotherapist, speech pathologist, clinical psychologist) an appointment will be made for an assessment. The assessment takes approximately 2 hours involving both child and parent. A series of specifically chosen standardised and non-standardised tests are carried out. Discussion with the parent outlines the main areas of strength, areas for development and functional implications. Following the assessment a comprehensive report will be written, outlining specific recommendations and goals for your child.
Assessment performance components include sensorimotor, cognitive, and pschosocial domains.
Specific areas of assessment include:
- Visual processing skills
- Fine motor skills
- Gross motor skills
- Handwriting skills
- Assessment for special examination arrangements (School Curriculum and Standards Authority Application)
- Sensory processing
- Spelling skills
- Bilateral integration skills
- Literacy and numeracy skills
- Planning and organisational skills
Full assessments are completed by Chris Dove and a report is produced including specific recommendations.
